Rasca, a beacon to Palm Mar luxury

Rasca lighthouseIf you are not sure where the select modern resort of Palm Mar is in Tenerife, a quick glance from Los Cristianos beach will soon pick out the red and white striped lighthouse that marks Rasca point, just along from Palm Mar. Malpais de Rasca is a nature reserve formed by a lava flow that has left a wealth of rugged landscape and a home for many species of plants and animals.

Malpais de Rasca is at one side of Palm Mar, and the protective face of Guaza mountain is at the other, ensuring that new developments here are protected from the wind and attract the best of the sunshine, as well as wonderful sea views. Bahia de los Menceyes contains 3 bed ground floor apartments and 3 and 4 bed duplex penthouse apartments, all in tropical gardens served by 3 swimming pools. Light and space have been used to good effect to give a feel that fits in well with the natural charm of the area.

Malpais de Rasca is a popular area with hikers, and the Tenerife government has announced a 300,000 euro investment to give the old lighthouse a much deserved make over. The 32 metre tower was built in 1898 with stone quarried from Guaza mountain and with the addition of a small car park and jetty, it will become easier to reach in future. There will also be a small education centre to make visitors aware of the plants and animals that can be found in the area. This nature reserve, like Guaza Mountain, will always be protected, that’s reassuring for those fortunate to live in Palm Mar, they will always be surrounded by nature’s finest views.
